Santa and his elves to drop in at Golspie lights switch-on

Golspie’s Christmas lights will be switched on at a public event on Saturday, December 2, it has been announced.

An open invitation has been posted on the Golspie Village social media page to local residents and visitors to attend the annual Christmas lights switch-on ceremony at Fountain Road car park.

This year Charlie Mackay will be doing the switch-on honours.

Sutherland Schools Pipe Band and Sutherland Caledonian Pipe Band will be performing.

Hot chocolate and mulled wine will be on offer and Santa and his elves are set to make a special appearance.

A pub quiz will be held at Fountain Road Hall that night from 7pm. £3 pp. BYOB.

The weekend of December 2 looks set to be a busy one across Sutherland with a number of community festive events scheduled to take place.

A Christmas lights switch-on will be held at Culrain Hall on Friday, December 1.

And Dornoch has its St Andrew’s Fair on Saturday, December 2, while on the same day a festive event and anniversary celebration is being held to mark the 50th anniversary of the building of Bonar bridge.
