Dornoch Community Council discuss Platinum Jubilee celebration as chairman says 'It will be embarrassing if we do nothing'

Dornoch Area Community Council is considering how best to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Chairman Patrick Murray said at last month’s meeting that he had contacted local voluntary groups to see if they had anything in mind.

“It will be embarrassing if we do nothing”, he said.

Community councillor Lesley Strang agreed, saying: “It would be shameful if we do not do something.”

Members recalled that the town celebrated the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012 with a three-hour garden party on the Cathedral Green.

Community councillor Lucy Dixon suggested holding a Jubilee cream tea.

Platinum Jubilee celebrations are being held from Thursday to Sunday, June 2-5.
