It is the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and East Sutherland Rotary Club is determined to celebrate her amazing 70-year reign.

The club has decided to mark the unprecedented royal milestone by hosting a “very special event” at Dunrobin Castle this summer.

Planning is in the early stages but the event will also serve as a fundraiser for many local charities.

Club spokesman Alistair Risk said the club would like to hear from people who can provide entertainment - such as dancers, pipers and singers.

They will be performing in the castle gardens.

An appeal has also gone out for mobile food and drink providers.

In addition the rotary club would like to hear from local charities and activity groups who would be interested in raising funds by running stalls.

Mr Risk said: “We couldn’t let the Queen’s momentous achievement pass without a celebration and we are also keen to lift everyone’s spirits after the difficulties of the last two with the coronavirus pandemic.”

The Queen has made history by becoming the first British monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee.
