AN AMBER snow warning has been issued for swathes of the Highlands, after the Met Office upgraded existing alerts.

MOTORISTS have been urged to take extra care on the region’s roads following “a number” of Highland crashes and hazardous conditions in Sutherland.

THE A9 was closed in both directions in southern Sutherland following a one-vehicle crash this morning.

An alert has been issued by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) of flooding in Caithness due to heavy rain this morning.

The buses will shuttle six - 12 people around the area.
