Side roads in Sutherland are still affected by hard packed snow and icy patches in places, the local authority has said.

In its roads report today, Highland Council said priority one routes in the county were mainly clear but damp.

However in the Tongue area, a fresh fall of snow has led to two-inch covering on roads.

All routes are being bladed and treated as necessary.

The UK Met Office currently has a yellow weather warning in place for snow and ice for large areas within the Highland region.

Negative temperatures across the domain, primary routes dry with no issues and salt levels remain high. Secondary and other routes, specifically higher routes, still the odd icy patch and snow in centre track. All routes being treated this morning.
