WATCH: Dornoch care home resident serenades wife of 60 years to celebrate diamond wedding anniversary
There were tears of joy at Meadows Care Home in Dornoch yesterday as Billy and Cally More celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.
Staff and residents joined in on the celebrations as Billy (81), resident at the Meadows, serenaded his wife of sixty years, Cally (76) with an emotional rendition of “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong.
First married on March 28, 1964, the Dornoch couple this week received a congratulatory message from the King and Queen in recognition of their anniversary.

After Billy presented Cally with a bouquet of flowers, the couple recalled the day he asked Cally’s parents for her hand in marriage. Billy said he remembered the day well, and when Cally asked him, “Do you still love me grandad?”, he replied: “Well, I would be stupid to say no!” - to which they both laughed.
They went on to reminisce about their time together over the years and noted that they were “blessed to have each other and a lovely family.”
Meadows care home manager Jackie Macrae said: “It was an honour to help Billy and Cally celebrate their special day and to see the loving bond between them. It is our job to enrich lives and promote meaningful connections for our residents so it was only right that we supported Billy in throwing his wife of 60 years a wee tea party to celebrate the event.
“Billy reduced us all to tears with his rendition of ‘What a Wonderful World’. He presented her with flowers and he was absolutely thrilled with his card from King Charles and Queen Camilla. Cally was speechless and so moved by the whole event as she didn’t think it would be possible to celebrate it.”
