Sutherland continues to remember Queen Elizabeth II this weekend with plans for a wreath laying ceremony, lone piper tribute and communal two-minute silence

Melvich, Portskerra and Forsinard Community Council is to hold a wreath laying ceremony tomorrow in memory of Queen Elizabeth II.

The event takes place at noon at the war memorial in Melvich.

A community council spokesman said: “All are welcome to come. Any community groups or individuals who wish to join us and lay flowers are very welcome.”

Those who wish to attend are asked to contact the council on its Facebook page or email: melvichcommunitycouncil@gmail.com

Meanwhile at Dornoch on Sunday, Pipe Major W Fraser will play the immortal memory outside Dornoch Cathedral at 6pm.

And at 8pm anyone wishing to show their respects to the late monarch can gather at the fountain in Cathedral Square for a communal two minute silence.

Live community screenings of the Queen’s state funeral on Monday, September 19, are taking place at Helmsdale and also at the Assynt Centre, Lochinver.
