Feedback is being sought on a plan to create a community orchard in a small Sutherland village.

Rogart Development Trust, which runs Rogart Mart, is proposing to create a community orchard close to the mart building, which is used as a venue for events and activities.

A spokesperson for the Trust said: "The land to the south side of the Mart building is unsuitable due to the high flood line.

"It has been suggested that planting a community orchard would be a good use of the space. Fruit grown here would be available for use by the entire Rogart community.

"The aim is to create an area where people can meet, socialise, enjoy the outdoors and the health benefits of locally grown fresh fruit."

Residents in the Rogart area are being asked to complete a questionnaire, available on the Rogart Mart Facebook page, to gauge community support. The survey will be open until Tuesday, January 30.
