Provost of Dornoch Catherine Macangus to 'walk the flames' for charity

Veteran Dornoch fundraiser Catherine Macangus is taking on a fire walk challenge in aid of Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland.

Catherine, who is the chairperson of Dornoch Community Council and Provost of Dornoch, will ‘walk the flames’ at Inverness Botanic Garden on Friday March 16.

The event is being run on behalf of Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland by professional event organisers who have been running fire walks for many years.

Catherine will be one of a number of fundraisers who will spend 90 minutes learning the skills required to complete the challenge before walking barefoot across the glowing embers.

Over the past decade Catherine has helped raise thousands for Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland through the annual Gars Tractor Run.

The popular tractor run was founded by her late husband, Dornoch motor mechanic Gary Macangus who tragically died suddenly in December 2013, aged just 53, just months after the inaugural run. Catherine and her son Ross along with others, carried on the run
