A SEWING group formed in East Sutherland during lockdown to make scrubs, has been lauded by an NHS worker.
The sewing bee, initiated by Isobel Ross from Bonar Bridge, was featured in a May edition of the Northern Times.
Dornoch native and NHS paramedic Anne-Louise Muir, now working near Cambridge, read the article and got in touch with the group to ask if scrubs could be made for her team.
Miss Muir said: “I work with six other members in a NHS hazardous area response team (HART). We have several different uniforms/equipment that we have to wear. But due to Covid-19, we have to change a lot more.
"I wanted to buy some scrubs for my team as a wee surprise and a welcome addition for under a boiling hot Tyvek suit. The ladies were brilliant... they made a set of scrubs for every member of my work team.”
Working in the sewing circle with Ms Ross were Bryony Ballantyne, Brora; Betty Murray, Jenny Walker, and Esther Farquharson, all Dornoch. The team made around 400 scrubs' items in total, but have now finished and members are working independently making face masks.
