A TEAM of East Sutherland women have formed a “scrub making circle” running up protective clothing for NHS Charities Together.

It was originally the idea of Isobel Ross from Bonar Bridge who had read about a similar scheme “The Love of Scrubs” in the south.

She contacted her friends in their local sewing bee and the five woman soon formed the group and “got down to work”.

Along with Isobel are Bryony Ballantyne from Brora; Betty Murray, Dornoch; Jenny Walker, Dornoch; and Esther Farquharson, Dornoch.

Jenny, who has a sewing business in Dornoch, was able to bulk cut the cotton/polyester material, and all five ladies sew the pieces together. So far they have made 80 sets of scrubs which are being given to local NHS outlets and care homes.

Isobel raised money for the fabric by contacting businesses in Bonar Bridge, friends and family.
