Rogart Development Trust is moving forward with a plan to create a community orchard after receiving positive feedback from local residents.

The Trust, which is responsible for Rogart Mart, ran a survey to find out if there was local support for the proposal.

Trust chairperson Kate Roach told at a meeting of Rogart Community Council last Monday that 71 local residents had responded to the survey and 93 per cent were in favour.

“It was very positive and on that basis we are progressing to raise funding to put it (the community orchard plan) into action,” she said. The orchard would be located on the south side of the mart building.
