Dornoch to have Business Improvement District after businesses vote 63:45 in its favour

Dornoch is to establish a Business Improvement District (BID) after local businesses voted in its favour.

A total of 187 local businesses were eligible to vote with ballot papers sent out on Thursday, September 18.

The vote was counted today (Friday, November 17) at Highland Council headquarters in Inverness - the ballot was scrutinised by CIVIC Electoral Services.

Sixty-three business voted in favour of the BID while 45 businesses were against. Two papers were rejected with one having no official mark on it and two having been received from the same property.

The BID will run for a period of five years, from March 1 next year to February 28, 2009, when another vote will be held on whether or not it should be renewed.

BID coordinator Paula White has been asked for comment.

Dornoch businesses have voted yes for the Dornoch Business Improvement District (BID) for a period of five years from March 1 next year until 28 February 28, 2029.

Ballot papers for the Dornoch BID election were sent to eligible voters on Thursday September 28, and the businesses had the opportunity to cast their vote during the past seven weeks.

The counting of votes was held today (Friday November 17 ) and the ‘yes’ result is published on the council’s website www.highland.gov.uk/dornochbid by the Ballot Holder and independent scrutineer, for the CIVICA Electoral Services.
