Community enjoys 'wonderful afternoon' at Brora's Party in the Park

An East Sutherland community came together for fun, laughter, games and cake yesterday afternoon.

Brora’s Party in the Park 2024 more than matched the success of the first such event, held last year to mark the coronation of King Charles III.

Community turns out in force for Brora coronation picnic

Around 650-700 people gathered outside Brora Heritage Centre in Fascally Park to listen to music, take part in activities and competitions, browse round stalls and enjoy refreshments.

The event was organised by a number of local organisations including Clyne Heritage Society, Brora Community Enterprise, the Rotary Club of East Sutherland and local charities.

The theme was ‘Royal Teddy Bears Picnic Party’ with everyone invited to bring their teddy bears.

Rotarian Alistair Risk said it was a “wonderful afternoon” that had brought the community together. Entry was free thanks to grant funding.

He thanked everyone who had contributed to the success of the event, singling out members of 1st Brora Scouts who had provided first aid cover, helped set up stalls and provided the marquee and acted as car park attendants.
