Primary 7 pupils from Brora Primary School were on bag packing duty on Saturday, as shoppers passed through the checkouts at Tesco in Tain.

Class teacher Mrs Seel joined pupils Rose Fraser-Heine, Anna Rooney and Freya Pryde who came up with the idea to raise funds for their annual school trip by helping shoppers to pack their bags while accepting donations.

Children from classes Primary 5 to Primary 7 are preparing for a fun trip to Landmark Adventure Park at the end of May.

Pupils are now aiming to raise as much as they can before the trip.

The girls assisted shoppers from 10am until noon on Saturday, March 9, raising a total of £131.74 on the day.

As well as the bag pack in Tain, pupils have also been selling bird feed balls at a school coffee morning and recently held a "guess the teddy’s name" competition. They are also currently fundraising for a Primary 7 pupil and teacher to take part in the Jelly Welly next week before the Easter holidays.

Headteacher Mairi Scott reserved special praise for the "amazing" pupils.

She said: "The girls decided they wanted to do a fund raiser and came up with the idea. They were all complimented on how well they did and how polite they were. They represented the school amazingly."
