A HUNDRED young players packed the Games Hall in Golspie for the annual primary schools benchball tournament.
With enthusiastic support from teachers, parents and friends, the nine and 10-year-old players enjoyed round robin competitions for boys, girls and mixed teams from east Sutherland’s primary schools.
Senior pupils and sports leaders from Golspie High School officiated and made a significant and essential contribution to the success of the evening.
Sam Johnson did a sterling job on the score table and timekeeping.
Highlife Highland’s active schools co-ordinator Louise Nadin said: “There are only winners at an event like this.
“For many, this is the first time they have represented their school and played in a big event. Every one of them played hard and worked hard and it’s so encouraging when very small schools like Rosehall manage to get a team together and do so well.”
