The Invergordon athlete claimed his second world title last night in Sacramento.

The 27-year-old followed up his victory in 2021 by finishing on top of the podium, with Oleksii Novikov of Ukraine and Martin Licis of United States 10 points behind him in joint second place.

No athlete has ever won six world strongest man titles, and Stoltman says he has an ambition to be the first to do it.

But in the short term, he just wants to enjoy being World's Strongest Man again.

Speaking on World Strongest Man social media, he said: "I want to enjoy myself and see what happens.

"I'm hungry for six titles, but who knows what the world is going to open up to me now.

"This is the competition I get most motivated for, coming here and mixing it with the big guys."

Stoltman never finished outside the top three in any of the six events in the final.

He was 3.5 points behind Novikov with two rounds remaining, but the Ukrainian performed badly in the final two rounds, allowing Stoltman to run away with the title.

He said he was determined to prove to the public his victory last year was not a one off.

"It was special last year and I wanted to come back and prove a point," he said.

"I didn't make mistakes, I let other people make mistakes, I was cool, calm and breezy the whole way through.

"What a way to finish off on the stones. I was under pressure for the second year running but I came out here and showed my mature head."

Stoltman says working hard on events where he struggled previously was key to retaining his title.

He says it has paid off as he remains the World's Strongest Man.

"I have worked hard on the press and the truck pull, those events last year might have cost me a lot of points.

"But I was top three in all these events. To do it back to back is just an amazing feeling."

Stoltman is the first athlete to retain the title since American Brian Shaw in 2016.

He is the only Scotsman to win World Strongest Man.

Mariusz Pudzianowski from Poland holds the record for the most World’s Strongest Man wins with five titles in 2002, 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2008.
