Brora Rangers Women have welcomed a new sponsor on board for the 2021 Highlands and Islands League season.

The league’s founding members have struck a deal with Sid’s Spice, who have been voted one of the top Indian restaurants in Scotland.

Brora have yet to really get their campaign under way due to a couple of different issues.

Like many other teams around the country, positive Covid-19 cases have had an impact on player availability.

Their opening match against Buckie first had to be rearranged due to a lack of available facilities, and when the game was finally played Brora had an under-strength squad, and so it was the Moray outfit that came out on top, winning 11–0.

The Cattachs had lost their goalkeeper last minute going into that game, with others unable to train in the build-up or even play that game.

Before kick off in that match, a minute’s applause was observed to honour David Wilson, a coach at Dudgeon Park that had passed away last year.

Brora’s second match of the season was called off too.

Again, Covid cases can be blamed for the trip to Clachnacuddin not going ahead, and precautions are being taken to ensure the safety of all players and coaches involved at the club.

So far, spectators have been limited to close contacts of the players and the team are testing before every training session and match to make things as safe as possible.

Another area the Cattachs are looking to develop is their youth set-up.

Three teams, under-11s, under-13s and under-15s, will take part in Scottish FA leagues this year, with the club believing that football is particularly beneficial for our players as it not only promotes fitness but also many important social benefits for young players.
