Generations are set to collide in a charity football match in Ullapool on Thursday (December 29).

The Johnny Cowboy and Fred Hamilton Memorial Cup will be played between teams representing Under 30s and Over 30s for the first time since 2019.

Used as a fundraiser for Cancer Research UK, the match is played each year to celebrate the life of two former players with connections to Lochbroom football club, Johnny 'Cowboy' MacDonald and Fred Hamilton, who died as a result of cancer.

The club raised £800 when it was last played on December 28, 2019 with the score finishing 9-6 to the 'veterans'.

Lochbroom FC chairman Ben Bruce said: "We usually organise the game over Christmas because everyone is at home, including current and former players. The game always gets the committee out together to watch. We look forward to welcoming plenty of people along."

The club intends to hold a raffle on the day to raise funds.

The game kicks off at 3pm on Thursday, at Ullapool High School astro pitch.
