MANAGER Sam Mackay says Golspie Sutherland must beat Division One leaders Invergordon tomorrow or kiss goodbye to winning the league.

The top of the table clash in Ross-shire sees Golspie trail Invergordon by four points.

Victory will move the Sutherland outfit to within one point of Invergordon with four games remaining.

But Mackay says defeat, or even a draw, could make Invergordon uncatchable in the race for the title.

“This is a big match which we really need to win,” he said.

“Defeat, or even a draw, will not be good for us considering where we are and where they are in the league.

“We are seeing this as a must-win game as the league is that small.

“We have had two defeats already which puts us in second place in the race for the title.

“If we do win, then that puts all the pressure on Invergordon.

“There are still some tough games to play for ourselves and Invergordon afterwards, but we need to add the pressure on them.”

Invergordon won 4-0 at King George V Park earlier this season and Mackay says they have a point to prove when they travel south tomorrow.
“It was a strange game the last time we played against Invergordon,” he said.

“I don’t think it wasn’t a 4-0 kind of game as both goalkeepers didn’t have that much to do.

“On that day we made a few chances, but we didn’t take them.

“Whereas Invergordon did take the chances when they got them, and that was the difference.

“But we know what Invergordon are all about, and they know what we’re all about.”

Golspie beat St Duthus 4-0 last weekend, scoring 10 goals in their last two matches, which Mackay says gives them confidence.

“We have also got two clean sheets which have been hard to come by so I’m glad that has been ironed out,” he said.
