Thurso trip first up for Golspie Sutherland

Golspie Sutherland will open their North Caledonian League campaign with a trip to Thurso on October 17.

The fixtures were released last weekend for the upcoming season, which will see two separate divisions for one year only to give the campaign the best possible chance of completion.

Division One will be made up of the six highest-placing teams from the 2019/20 league table as it was when sport ground to a halt, with the remaining sides being joined by new outfits in Division Two.

Golspie were the last side to win the North Caley title in the 2018/19 season after last season’s campaign was declared null and void, with the trophy being awarded to the NHS instead.

• Opening NCL fixtures: Division One – Thurso v Golspie Sutherland, Invergordon v St Duthus. Division Two – Bonar Bridge v Nairn County, Loch Ness v Scourie, Inverness Athletic v Bunillidh Thistle.
