Sutherland take on champions after suffering defeat to Orkney

SUTHERLAND will look to bounce back from their first defeat in the Highlands and Islands League when they host champions Buckie on Sunday.

Sutherland lost their 100 per cent record in the division when they suffered a 4-0 defeat to Orkney in Kirkwall.

The defeat saw Sutherland drop to third in the table on goal difference, with Orkney moving top on goal difference.

Abi Coltherd and Jess Ewing both scored twice in Kirkwall to move the Orcadians to the summit on goal difference.

The match between Brora Rangers and Nairn St Ninian scheduled to be played last weekend was postponed and will be rearranged for a future date.

Brora Rangers are scheduled to head to Inverness on Sunday to face Clachnacuddin.

Champions Buckie have moved into second place on goal difference in the league with a 3-0 win over Caithness in Portgordon.

Emily Mcauslan scored a hat-trick in the second half to eventually see off the determined Far North outfit.

Ross and Cromarty made history as they picked up their first win in the Highlands and Islands League as they defeated Clachnacuddin 3–2 at North Kessock.

Clachnacuddin, who were also looking for their first win of the season, went in front when Eilidh Donovan found the net to give them a 1–0 lead at the break.

The Lilywhites doubled their advantage in the second half when Fiona Mclean thumped home from close range.

But Ross and Cromarty stormed back with Grace Clark scoring twice, along with Simone Coles also finding the net to give the club their first competitive victory.

The win lifts Ross and Cromarty into fourth place in the table with three points and Clachnacuddin dropping to sixth place with one point.

On Sunday, Caithness are set to face Ross and Cromarty and Nairn St Ninian will take on Orkney.

Ross and Cromar ty will travel to Thurso to take on Caithness with Buckie welcoming Clachnacuddin. Ties will be played on Sunday, May 21.
