The North girls’ under-15 rugby team have beaten Lothian, by 50pts to 5pts.

The team is formed of girls from Orkney, Caithness and Sutherland and play at under-15 and under-18 levels.

Four Golspie High School pupils play for the team – pictured top left Erin Johnstone (Brora) who scored two tries; beside her on the back row Kia Marshall-Farrell (Helmsdale); front row, left, Samantha Johnson (Rogart) and beside her Emily Claydon (also Rogart).

Results have been great and the girls are in the semi-final of the Brewin Dolphin girls national cup, where they have to travel to face Biggar RFC.

This weekend the team plays in Orkney.

Any girls interested in playing rugby should contact Ian Murray at the PE Department of Golspie High School.
