Success with Brora Rangers is no gamble for new signing

Millar Gamble says the ambition shown by Brora Rangers to achieve promotion from the Highland League convinced him to sign for the Cattachs.
The 18-year-old, from Ardersier, joined the league champions after leaving Inverness Caledonian Thistle and has impressed in his short time at the club so far.
The defender says Brora Rangers have what it takes to move up a division and is eager to play a part in helping them achieve that dream.
“I have ambitions of playing as high as I can within the game and I feel I can achieve that with Brora,” he said.
“I think they were unfortunate not to be promoted last year.
“But I believe we have a squad good enough over the next couple of years we can get into the Scottish leagues as that is where we deserve to be.
“If we perform to the standard we are capable of, we have every chance.
“But it won’t just happen for us.
“We need to keep working hard and making sure we are doing the right things on the park and right things in training and then things will work for us.”
Gamble, who came through the Caley Thistle youth system before being released last summer, has been impressed with the professional attitude Brora have, despite playing in a semi-professional division.
After discussing terms with manager Steven Mackay, he said moving to Brora was the right decision for his football career.
“When the manager first contacted me I had a chat and right away he explained the vision and ambition of the club,” he said.
“It was something that I wanted to be a part of. I worked hard through lockdown so whatever club I ended up at I wanted to hit the ground running.
“From the first day I’ve been made welcome and this is where I want to develop as a footballer. “
Gamble has been involved in Brora’s Betfred Cup campaign which has seen them achieve respectable 3-1 and 2-0 defeats to Hibernian and Dundee, as well as a 2-2 draw against Cove Rangers before losing a penalty shootout.
Gamble says Brora have impressed in the competition this season and show they have the quality to make the step up.
“After I signed I saw the quality the boys have,” he said.
They are going away to Hibs and playing at home to Dundee and getting those results. The second half against Cove Rangers we were outstanding and got a point.
“It is a competitive squad and we all trust each other whoever is playing.”
