SCOURIE manager Tony Reynoldson is challenging his players to pick up at least one point before the end of the season as they are set to restart the North Caledonian League campaign tomorrow against Loch Ness.

The North Caledonian League is set to restart on Saturday after being suspended since December due to rising cases of Covid-19 in Scotland.

Scourie, who are making their debut in the North Caledonian League this season, are rock bottom of Division Two, having lost all seven matches so far.

They play their final home game of the campaign against Loch Ness at Achlochan Park on Saturday.

They will then head to Alness United next weekend and then play their final game at Nairn County A on June 5.

Reynoldson says their debut campaign has been a learning curve, but believes they have improved as the season went on.

He believes tomorrow’s game against Loch Ness is winnable and is tasking his squad with making history by picking up their first point in the North Caledonian League.

“We are looking forward to get back playing and continue the improvements we were making throughout the season,” he said.

“A win would be brilliant or even to pick up some points, and we have a good chance of doing that on Saturday.

“I also think we have a good chance of picking up points against Nairn in three weeks time too.

“We will have to buck ourselves up for the Alness game as they are a good side.

“But we have a great chance in our last three games to pick something up.

“The players are up for getting something out of Saturday.

“Sometimes things can go for us and everyone is looking forward to it.”
Reynoldson should have most of his squad from the start of the campaign available for tomorrow’s match.

But five players are unavailable due to injury and work commitments.

But Reynoldson says after a long lay-off, everyone is just looking forward to getting back on the pitch and playing 90 minutes of football.

“It is great to get things back up and running again as the lads are fed up I think,” he said..

“The pitch is in great condition, it will required to be rolled but it should make for good football to be played.”

Scourie have suffered some heavy defeats in their debut season.

They have included losing 11–1 at Loch Ness and 13–0 at home to Alness United.

But performances and scorelines improved as the season went on and Reynoldson says fitness is key to positive results.

“In the last few games we have only lost the matches in the last 20 minutes,” said Reynoldson.

“Legs started to tire and as a result, games got away from us.

“But as the games start to get going again this weekend, I’m looking forward to see what the players can and do on the pitch.”
