All matches were postponed last weekend as a mark of respect, although the move led to some frustration from football fans who believed black armbands, the national anthem and minute's silences would have been more appropriate.

Clubs and players will have the option to do any or all of that at their next games, which will go ahead as scheduled subject to police resources – with the caveat that any match falling on Monday, September 19 – the day of Queen Elizabeth II's funeral – will be rescheduled.
