Royal Dornoch player finishes on top at Tain in North Golf Winter Alliance

ALLAN Cameron came out on top in the latest round of the North Golf Winter Alliance held at Tain on Sunday.

The Royal Dornoch Golf Club member claimed victory by two shots when he hit a 69.

He recorded halves of 35/34 with a card that included three birdies to secure victory.

David Joel of Brora Golf Club settled for second place when he fired a 71.

Michael Smith of Reay Golf Club was seven shots behind the leader in third place with 76.

Ian Ross from Reay Golf Club claimed top spot in the category one section with a net score of 70.

Hamish Skinner from Portmahomack was in second place with a net score of 72 thanks to a better inward half from Mike Keay from Portmahomack who also scored with 72.

Alasdair McGowan from Durness won the category two section with a net score of 68.

Alistair Simpson from Thurso was in second place with a net score of 70 and Ally Melville from Tain was in third place with 71.

In the ladies competition, Maggie Jamieson from Golspie claimed victory with a net 72.

Carol Paterson from Reay was in second place with a net 73 and thanks to a better inward half from Aileen Simmonite from Thurso.

Three more rounds of the North Golf Winter Alliance are set to take place in February and March to conclude the season.

The next round heads to Caithness and will take place on Sunday, February 12 at Reay Golf Club.

The final two fixtures of the season are then heading to Sutherland.

Golspie Golf Club will host the penultimate round of the competition on Sunday, February 26.

The final round of the competition will take place at Brora Golf Club on Sunday, March 12.
