CYCLISTS from across Scotland will be wheeling their way towards Golspie and Rogart this weekend for the first ever East Sutherland Wheelers Race Weekend.

Tomorrow (Saturday) a field of around 40 eager Time Trailers will gather at Rogart Hall to register for the open 10 mile time trial event. Competitors race against the clock in this fixed distance event.

The weekend then ends on a high with both the North Of Scotland Crit Championships and Skinny Tyres National Youth Championships taking place on Sunday at the Littleferry Kart Track.

The event starts at 10.30am with races running throughout the day finishing with grand finale – the NOSCA Open Crit Championships at 2.15pm. There will be a field of over 50 riders, including previous commonwealth games competitors, and local future Olympic talent – Scottish Cycling talent coach, Mark Young will be there as well.

Melanie Macrae, East Sutherland Wheelers treasurer, says: "The weekend will be a great opportunity to come along and cheer on our local cycling talent.

Entrance is free for spectators and there will be refreshments and snacks available on site for hungry cyclists and supporters alike. Everyone is welcome.
