The 43-year-old, who played for North Caledonian League club St Duthus this season, is believed to have signed a deal to join manager Steven Mackay at Station Park.

Tokely spent 16 years as a player at Inverness Caledonian Thistle where he made 593 appearances and scored 30 goals.

He joined Ross County in 2012 before moving to Highland League club Brora Rangers in 2013.

Tokely spent five seasons at Dudgeon Park as a player and manager when he was appointed boss of Brora Rangers in 2016.

He then joined Tain club St Duthus in 2018 where he won the Football Times Cup in 2020 and North Caledonian Cup in 2022.

St Duthus released a statement confirming Tokely has left the club with manager Alan Geegan thanking him for services.

He said: “It has been a pleasure to have played alongside Ross and to have had him play for me. He has been a massive part of what the club has achieved in the last few years in terms of cup success and he has helped some of the squad really grow as players.

“Everyone at the club wishes him all the best for a challenge he couldn't turn down. We will always leave the door open for a return.”
