Reay golfer wins North Golf Winter Alliance fixture at Golspie

Brent Munro came out on top in the latest round of the North Golf Winter Alliance held at Golspie Golf Club.

The Reay Golf Club member proved too good for the chasing pack as he secured victory by two shots with a score of 57.

He was two shots clear of David Joel, who was representing Brora Golf Club, who claimed second place with a round of 59.

Allan Cameron of Royal Dornoch Golf Club had to settle for third place, thanks to a better inward half, after hitting a round of 60.

There was also Caithness success in the Category One section when Jason Norwood of Reay hit a net round of 56.

He was one shot clear of fellow Reay golfer Malcolm Thomson who hit a net round of 57.

He claimed second place thanks to a better inward half ahead of Hamish Skinner of Portmahomack, who also had a net score of 57.

In Category Two, Martin Mackay from Durness came out on top with a net score of 55. Mark Mackay from Wick claimed second place thanks to a better inward half after sharing a net score of 56 with Steven Lowe from Thurso.

In the Ladies Section, Rachel Durrand from Thurso was crowned the winner when she recorded a net score of 52 to take the title.

She was five shots ahead of Alison Darlington from Brora Golf Club who claimed second place with a score of net 57.

Carol Paterson of Reay settled for third place when she recorded a net score of 58.

Allan Cameron of Royal Dornoch Golf Club won the nearest the pin challenge.

The final round of the North Golf Winter Alliance is scheduled to take place at Brora Golf Club on Sunday, March 12.
