IT was charity day at Bonar Bridge/Ardgay Golf Club’s opening day on Saturday when, as a one off event, it was decided to combine the occasion with fundraising for Children in Need. Several people dressed up, and the captain Gordon Kilgour drove off to start the season in a rather fetching hat.

Nine teams played in a "red ball/Texas scramble" with red nosed golf balls and then went into the club house to find burgers, hot dogs and some very red cakes being sold for the charity.

Over £300 was raised.
