Golspie cyclist Iain Paton travels to the Czech Republic this week as part of the Great Britain junior cross country mountain bike team, taking part in a round of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Mountain Bike World Cup in Nova Mesto na Morave.
Selection for the GB team is a great achievement for Iain, who has just moved up from Youth to Junior level this season. He has been placed in the top four in both rounds of the British National series, where he now races for the CNP Orbea team.
This is his second World Cup round this season as he represented GB at Houffalize in Belgium last month. Next week he heads off to La Bresse in the Vosges region of France for another round.
Iain, who received support from Sutherland Local Sports Council, trains under the British Cycling Olympic Development programme and is also on the Scottish Cycling Performance Programme.
His long-term goal is to compete in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
