The 34-year-old was confirmed as taking the reins at Dudgeon Park last week from Craig Campbell who stood down at the beginning of the year.

MacDonald has been joined in the dugout by Josh Meekings as assistant manager and the pair got their reign off to a winning start with a 2–0 victory over Strathspey Thistle last Saturday.

MacDonald says Brora Rangers have played a big part in his playing career, and is pleased to start his managerial career off with the Cattachs.

“It is a big moment for myself and my family, and it continues the journey I have had for the last few years.

“The opportunity to work with a team of this quality, with the coaching staff and a club I had great times with was a no brainer.

“It is different as I now have to make decisions that I didn’t have to before.

“I am a big believer in leadership throughout the squad, and we have more than me in the role, it will be a proper togetherness in terms of leadership.”

MacDonald first joined Brora Rangers in 2011, and after a brief spell in America with Embry Eagles, has been at the club since 2013.

He has been a major part of Brora Rangers’ success in the Highland League over the last decade and is looking to achieve more success in the future.

“As a coaching team we are very ambitious. We have a squad of players that want to win and be successful. To have that buy in from board level is huge and exciting, what they have planned is a lift for us and the boys, for things to work it has to come together and it is looking good.”

MacDonald is also pleased to have Meekings by his side in the dugout.

“It is tremendous, you need people with experience like his when we come into big games. For me it is massive to have him here next to me and we are very much a team.”
