BRORA Rangers Ladies kicked off September with a home tie against Kirkwall City in the Highland League.

Brora, who were playing into a strong wind in the first half, took the game to Kirkwall from the word go.

In the first 15 minutes, Brora piled on the pressure and made several chances, but couldn't quite get the final touch to give them the lead.

Their efforts finally paid off when some nice build-up play saw Poppy Watson driving the ball into the net to give them a well deserved lead at half time.

Early in the second period Kirkwall fought back and scored a good goal with a dipping shot from distance to bring the scoreline to 1-1.

Brora, however, were not for giving up the three points and took control of the game again with some nice passing football from back to front, which paid off with Watson going on to score her first hat trick in the Highland League.

Brora looked comfortable at 3-1 up until a through ball saw Kirkwall running clear and slotting the ball into the bottom corner to bring the scoreline to 3-2.

The nerves were soon settled, however, when new signing Melissa Anderson controlled the ball beautifully and with a calm head put Brora 4-2 into the lead with her first goal for the club.

The final scoreline allowed Brora to leapfrog Buckie Thistle in the league.

They now have a couple of weeks free before facing Buckie in their next league encounter at home on September 22.

This fixture is going to be a very important clash in terms of their finishing position in the league with only two games to go before the season comes to an end.
