Golspie Sutherland midfielder agrees deal to join Wick Academy as young North Caledonian League player of the year joins Scorries on two-year deal

GARY Pullen has left Golspie Sutherland after agreeing a deal to sign for Highland League club Wick Academy.

Last season’s North Caledonian League young player of the year has left King George V Park as he has signed for the Caithness outfit in a two-year deal.

The 18-year-old midfielder was named as the North Caledonian League’s young player of the year last season and is set to make his debut in the Highland League for the 2023/24 campaign.

Pullen impressed while on trial with Wick Academy during pre-season with manager Gary Manson offering him a permanent deal as a result of his excellent performances for the Scorries.

Last season, Pullen made 27 appearances for Golspie Sutherland and he found the net on five occasions.

Pullen has also played for Wick Thistle in the Caithness First Division this summer.

He made 14 appearances for the Jags, scoring three goals and having five assists.

Golspie Sutherland are set to kick off their North Caledonian League season on Saturday, August 12 when they face Invergordon at King George V Park.

Bonar Bridge will open their league campaign against Fort William at Claggan Park.

Golspie manger Mark McKernie will be looking for an improved performance from his team from last season, when they finished in sixth place in the North Caledonian League.

Golspie Sutherland finished a distant 20 points behind league champions Loch Ness last season, as they will look to put in a serious title challenge this campaign.

Twelve teams will be taking part in the North Caledonian League this season, with Nairn County confirming they are pulling their colts team out of this year’s competition.
