Match abandoned in Ullapool after Helmsdale player breaks leg in 85th minute

HELMSDALE United player Donnie Ross reportedly suffered a broken leg which forced the North West Sutherland League One match at Lochbroom to be abandoned with five minutes remaining.

The injury took place in the 85th minute with the score at 2-2 at Ullapool High School when the game was forced to stop due to the severity of the injury.

Lochbroom reported on their social media site that Ross had suffered a leg break and the match was called off.

Helmsdale United reported on their social media site that Ross sustained a serious leg injury.

It is not yet confirmed if the result will stand as 2-2 or if the game will be rearranged.

In the only North West Sutherland League Two match this weekend, Tain Thistle won 2-1 at Brora Wanderers.

Steven Hughes gave Brora the lead, but Tain levelled on the stroke of half time before scoring the winner in the second half.

In the Highland Amateur Cup, Golspie Stafford are through to the quarter finals after beating Carloway 4-2 in Ullapool.

They will travel to Clachnacuddin Reserves in the quarter finals after they defeated Inver 3-2 in Inverness.
