Andrew Mackay of Inverness, whose parents came from Helmsdale and Tongue, will be stepping up for his second professional boxing bout on 30th April at the St Andrew’s Sporting Club in Glasgow.
The venue is a highly prestigious one, often referred to as the home of Scottish boxing, and Andrew is looking forward to the match though, as yet, the name of his opponent has not been announced.
Andrew has been very busy since his successful outing at the Caird Hall, Dundee last month and feels he is in very good shape for whoever he has to face up to a week on Thursday.
He invested the purse from his first fight in constructing his own boxing gym in his garage which is helping both him and his coach to fit training in to their work shift patterns and, as if that wasn’t enough, Andrew will be off to Glasgow this weekend for an intensive training camp.
