SIX clubgolf coaches from Sutherland travelled to play in the clubgolf Scottish Hydro Pro-Am held over the Spey Valley Golf Course on Monday of last week.

A total of 20 teams from across Scotland took part, with coaches travelling from Stranraer, Edinburgh and Grampian as well as Bonar Bridge/Ardgay and Royal Dornoch.

Royal Dornoch’s team of Peter Haworth, Neil Hampton and Mike Thomas played with Alistair Love, now a professional based at St Andrews, who has played for several years in the Young Masters event at Royal Dornoch in October.

Their score of nett 62 in a low scoring competition gave them 8th place.

The mixed team of Nigel Baird and Jeani Hunter from Bonar/Ardgay and Royal Dornoch’s Denise McBride, with a creditable nett 67, were nudged into 15th place.

Their PGA Pro was local Badenoch and Strathspey professional Duncan Stewart, who has been scoring well in the USA inter-collegiate events where he has completed his golf scholarship.
