Ross-shire squash star Greg Lobban will be taking bronze medal home from Birmingham after men's doubles third place play-off win alongside Rory Stewart
Greg Lobban made sure to bounce back from the disappointment of a semi final defeat in the men's squash doubles at the Commonwealth Games and secure a bronze medal in the third place play-off.
Former Inverness Tennis and Squash Club member, alongside Perth's Rory Stewart, triumphed over Malaysian pair Ng Eain Yow and Yuen Chee Wern 11–10, 11–7 to make the most of their last chance at a medal.
It is a first Commonwealth medal for Lobban, Scotland's top ranked male squash player, who was making his third appearance at the competition after also competing at Glasgow in 2014 and the Australia's Coast in 2018.
The North Kessock man had lost in the men's singles draw to eventual bronze medal winner Saurav Ghosal at the quarter final stage.
Lobban then fell at the same stage in the mixed doubles to wife Donna and her playing partner Cameron Pilley.
Even in the men's doubles, Lobban and Stewart went through the disappointment of losing in the semi finals to English pair Daryl Selby and Adrian Waller.
Not to be disheartened at missing the chance of winning gold, though, Lobban has finally earned the right to stand on the podium on the last day of competitive action in Birmingham.
