Brora Golf Club’s David Joel claimed a double prize at the latest North Golf Winter Alliance fixture in Invergordon last weekend.

His round of 72 was enough to win the category one handicap competition, one shot ahead of Reay’s Jason Norwood and Brora’s Robert Macdonald.

However, Joel could also celebrate victory in the nearest the pin competition to add to his accolades from the weekend.

Royal Dornoch’s Allan Cameron just missed out to Muir of Ord’s Darren Hexley on countback in the overall scratch standings after both men shot rounds of 70.

James Keith from Durness was also among the prize places, finishing third in the category two handicap section with nett 69, following Thurso pair Allan Craigie and Ben Durrand.

Thurso also claimed the women’s competition, with Laura Durrand carding nett 77.
