Irene and Harry win first trophy of season

BRORA Bowling Club held their first competition of the season last Saturday, with 24 members taking part in the Ida Robertson two-bowl pairs.

The competition was played on a round-robin basis, two sections of six teams playing 12 ends against each other, with section winners playing off.

Irene Smith (skip), with partner Harry Hastings, lifted the first trophy of season when they beat Paul Hollingworth and Lillian Wallwork in the final.

Also on Saturday, Milton Bowling Club held their Open Invitation Triples. Two teams from Brora took part and both won their sections to play each other in one semi-final.

Angus Mackay (skip) along with Jean and Martin Dent won through to the final by beating Mathew Norrie, Angus Mackenzie and Gordon Ronald by 8-7. They then went on to lift the trophy by beating the Alness triple of Jeannie Robertson, May Gillespie and Bob Lowe by 8 shots to 2.
