After winning their opening two matches against Nairn County and Rothes, the Cattachs head to champions Brechin City on Saturday in their toughest game of the season so far.

Brora finished third in the Highland League last season, nine points behind Brechin City, who clinched the title on the final day of the 2022/23 campaign with a 1-0 win at Buckie Thistle.

MacDonald, says Brora do have their eyes on winning the Highland League title this season as they prepare to head off to Glebe Park.

“No one is hiding from the fact our focus is on the Highland League this year. We want to go and challenge at the top again.

“We were a few points off it last year. I think the new pitch here could make a difference to us.

“Hopefully we can now go on to another level and really close the gap between ourselves, Buckie Thistle and Brechin City.”

Brora Rangers continued their winning start to the Highland League season when they recorded a 1-0 victory over Rothes at Mackessack Park.

It has also been confirmed Macrae, who is the club’s only goal scorer in the league so far this season, has committed his future to Brora Rangers until the summer of 2026 by extending his contract.

MacDonald was pleased that Brora had enough to overcome Rothes and continued their winning start in a tricky beginning to the campaign.

"The important thing is we got the three points,” he said.

“We forced the game and weren’t patient with our build up.

“But we deserved the three points without being at our best.”

Elsewhere in the Highland League on Saturday, there is a heavyweight clash at Bellslea as Fraserburgh face Buckie Thistle.

Clachnacuddin welcome Deveronvale, Lossiemouth host Formartine, Rothes clash with Banks O’Dee and Turriff face Keith. In the Highland League Cup, Wick face Nairn and Huntly take on Inverurie.

Andy Macrae scored the only goal of the game in the 58th minute to give the Cattachs all three points.
