United were one point ahead of Lairg Rovers in the division before the match, knowing victory at Stafford Park would guarantee victory.

United went 2–1 up at half time before taking a two goal advantage in the second half. Golspie Stafford pulled one back to set up a tense finish.

But Helmsdale held on to claim the league title which was played for the first time since 2019.
