Helmsdale move into top spot with five goal win over Lochbroom

Helmsdale United have moved to the top of the North West Sutherland Amateur League after thrashing Lochbroom 5–0.

They took advantage of unbeaten Lairg Rovers not being in league action to move one point clear.

The match was over as a contest very early on, with the Sutherland side netting three goals in the first quarter hour.

Kevin Cairns was the man of the match as he found the net four times.

Dani Lamborena also found the net at Couper Park.

Melvich had another long afternoon of it, losing 13–0 away to Lochinver.

Jake Lockett scored four in the first half before being replaced, Duncan Matheson three, two goals each from Daniel Hutchison and Ally Macleod, with Fin Crook and Clarke Hutchison also scoring

In other league game of the day, Golspie Stafford beat Inver 7–0 to move into third place.

Cameron Sutherland scored a hat-trick, Robbie Murray got a double, Robbie Sutherland and Gary Pullen also scored.
