Good turnout for Skibo Pairs

The Skibo Plate A Pairs bowls competition took place on the Dornoch green on Sunday.

There were entries from Lybster, Brora, Golspie, Tain, Invergordon, Muir of Ord, Fortrose and Rosemarkie, and Inverness.

The competition was run on a round robin format and the 24 entries were split into four sections, with the winner of each section going through to semi-finals.

The first section winner was Paul Hollingworth partnered with Kathleen Mackay, who won all their games and amassed 10 points and 41 shots.

The second section was won by Mark Airey and partner Doug Johnson, who were on 8 points and 34 shots, and the third section by George Mowat and Robin Colvin, with 8 points and 41 shots

The fourth section was won by Alex Hooper who played with his son Matthew (11) with 8 points and 39 shots.

In the semi finals Paul Hollingworth beat Mark Airey 9 pts to 4, and George Mowat beat Alex Hooper 10pts to 6.

In the final Paul Hollingworth and Kathleen Mackay triumphed over George Mowat and Robin Colvin.
