GOLSPIE Sutherland will look to keep up the chase with league leaders Invergordon when they welcome Halkirk United in North Caledonian League Division One tomorrow.
Second place Golspie were denied the chance to reduce the gap at the top to one point after their game at Invergordon was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
With Invergordon in action against Thurso tomorrow, Golspie know they can’t afford any more slip-ups in the title race.
In Division One last weekend, Halkirk United suffered a heavy 4–1 defeat to St Duthus in Tain.
All the goals came in the second half, with St Duthus taking a 4–0 lead thanks to two goals from Ben Bruce with Jake Lockett and Cameron Mackintosh also finding the net.
Kyle Henderson grabbed a late consolation for Halkirk.
Thurso grabbed their second win of the season as they beat Orkney 3–1 at The Dammies.
Owen Young gave Orkney the lead but former Wick Academy striker Marc MacGregor levelled before half time.
Grant Aitkenhead and Bobby Gunn scored in the second half as the Vikings kept all three points in Caithness.
In Division Two, Bonar Bridge stunned Loch Ness with a 1–0 win at Migdale.
Stan Keith’s strike proved to be the difference.
Scourie went down 4–0 to Inverness Athletic with the scoreline flattering the hosts at Inverness Royal Academy.
It took Inverness until the 65th minute to opening the scoring through Luke Mackay.
They wrapped up victory with three goals in the last nine minutes through Ruaridh Patience, Luke Gair and an own goal.
Alness United kept their title fate in their own hands as they thrashed league leaders Nairn County 6–1 at Dalmore Park.
In a one sided contest, Calum Gow and Ryan McFee put Alness 2–0 ahead at half time.
McFee claimed his hat trick by scoring twice in the second half to make it 5–0.
Nairn County pulled one back five minutes before full time through Ciaran Young’s penalty.
But Euan Henderson restored the five-goal advantage in injury time.
