A group of Golspie High School pupils travelled to Inverness to compete in the North of Scotland Athletics Championships.

Despite the unseasonal weather, several athletes still managed to achieve personal best performances.

Golspie High School was also well represented on the podium, achieving an impressive haul of medals against very strong opposition from across the region.

In his final, Jamie Kelly continued to build on his previous success, winning gold medals in both the ‘A’ Boys 110m hurdles and triple jump.

In the ‘C’ Girls competition, Bethany Sutherland had a successful day, winning a gold medal in the shot putt with a throw of 8.46m. She also took silver in the triple jump (8.70m) and bronze in the 200m.

Kyle Sutherland also had a great day, winning gold in the ‘C’ Boys’ triple jump with a distance of 10.29m and a silver in the 200m.

Reece Mackay came first in the ‘B’ Boys’ javelin with a personal best throw of 33.10m.

Alasdair Coupar continued his successful season in long distance running events, winning a silver medal in the ‘C’ Boys’ 1500m in 4.56.59.

Two of the Golspie High School athletes have been invited to represent the North of Scotland Schools at the Scottish Schools Inter-Area Team competition in Grangemouth – congratulations to both Bethany Sutherland and Kyle Sutherland. It is a great honour to be selected to represent the region at this event.
