Four Sutherland league clubs into next round of Highland Amateur Cup

Golspie went 2–0 in front with goals from Sam Mackay and Shaun Urquhart.

Acks stormed back with Craig Sutherland scoring twice to level the game.

But Golspie retook the lead with Joseph McNamara scoring the winner.

They face a trip to Fortrose and Rosemarkie Union in the second round.

Lochinver cruised into the second round of the competition as they annihilated Thurso Pentland 9–0.

Daniel Hutchison scored a hat-trick with Jake Lockett also finding the net twice.

Jack Theakston, David Hunter, Duncan Matheson and Ally Macleod also found the net.

They face a trip to Halkirk to face High Ormlie Hotspur in the second round after they defeated Helmsdale United 1–0 at Couper Park.

A second-half goal by James Mackintosh was enough to secure victory for the Caithness outfit.

Lairg Rovers are also through to the second round after they defeated Inver 6–2.

They face a tough encounter in the next round as they face Barra who beat Westside 3–2.

Lochbroom are also through to the next round as they defeated John O’Groats 4–2 in Ullapool.

Kyle Mackenzie, Shaun Marshall, Louis Sears and Stuart Mackay scored the goals for Lochbroom to give them victory.

They now face a tough task as they face a trip to Caithness to face Staxigoe United who hammered Thurso Swifts 8–0 in the first round.

However, Dornoch City are out of the competition as they failed to cause an upset against Highland Amateur Cup holders Wick Groats as they succumbed to a 6–1 defeat.

Elsewhere in the North Section, Pentland United cruised to a 7–0 victory over Top Joe’s in Thurso. They face a titanic clash in the second round as they face Kirkwall Thorfinn in Dunnet.

Watten proved too good for Keiss as they recorded a comfortable 4–0 victory.

The Caithness second division outfit will now host Iochdar Saints in the second round.

Wick Thistle got the better of Lybster with a 1–0 victory at Cow Park.

They will now host Ardersier in the second round of the competition.

All second round ties are scheduled to be played on Saturday, June 4.
