Keith 1 Brora Rangers 2

BRORA Rangers ended their four-match losing run to give Davie Kirkwood his first victory as manager in a closely contested match at Kynoch Park.

Goals from Craig Campbell and Steve MacKay, early in each half, gave Brora a two-goal cushion but a Gary McNamee goal mid-way through the second period made for a nervy last half hour for the Sutherland side.

Brora took the lead in the 12th minute when Craig Campbell scored a stunning goal. The gifted midfielder shrugged off the attentions of his marker and fired a shot into the net off the underside of the crossbar.

The home side kept the pressure on up to half time but Ridgers was in fine form and he pulled off a couple of saves from Jamie Lennox and Sean Keith.

But it was Brora who doubled their lead in the 55th minute when Steve MacKay took on the Keith defence and fired an unstoppable shot into the net.

However, Keith got back into the match five minutes later when Adam Morrison and Cammy Keith combined on the edge of the area and Keith’s final ball was swept into the net by the Gary McNamee.

Ridgers came to his side’s rescue on more than one occasion in the last half hour of the match.

He kept out a goalbound shots from Sean Keith in quick succession. Brora defender Stuart Golabek did well to block a Cammy Keith effort before Ridgers pulled off another fine save from Smith.

Brora had to endure four minutes of injury time before the final whistle eventually sounded.

BRORA entertain Formartine United on league business at Dudgeon Park tomorrow (Saturday) – kick-off 3pm.
