East Sutherland athlete runs away with North Cross Country title

EAST Sutherland Athletics Club athlete Reuben Uruqhart dominated the North District Cross Country League season as he was crowned under-11 champion.

The Edderton Primary School pupil has had a successful cross country season coming first in five out of the five North League Cross Country meetings.

Races took place in Evanton, Dores, Nairn, Forres and Peterhead where he came first in all the races to land the title of North District Cross Country League under-11 boys champion.

The talented 11-year-old runner has had a successful season where he also impressed in a number of competitions that he took part in.

Urquhart also enjoyed success in the Ross-Shire Winter Series Running events where he managed to hold onto his Ross-Shire County Championship title.

In April, he took on the best runners in the country when he travelled to Kirkcaldy and finished in second place at the Scottish Primary Schools Cross Country Championships

Urquhart trains with East Sutherland Athletics Club two days a week on Wednesday afternoons and also on Saturday mornings in Dornoch.

He is already underway with training to prepare for next season as looks forward to testing himself at a higher and older level in the under 13 section.
